Derrick Hodgson grew up on a farm and subsequently moved to Toronto. This progression from nature to an urban surrounding provided the breeding grounds for the seeds of mania—his complex visual worlds populated by mutating characters.		“Creatures…the inspiration comes from my spring and summer gardening… sprouting… cultivating… planting… observing it all come to life… peepers, jumpers, floaters, sprouts, spores and slugs… In the garden you see all sorts of creatures.”
